What’s This All About?

This blog is where I document my ongoing story.  Even just months ago, I might have said that it’s mostly about my physical body, but my struggle with my physical body has shown me that it’s only the front for my emotional body.  So, it’s just about me – and anything that might entail!  To give you a starting place, though – here are some basics:

  • The Physical:  I’m 5’2″ with blue eyes and an ever-changing hair adventure.  I was 200lbs at age 14, 320 lbs at age 29 – when I finally took it on.  Over the next 10 years – I used Weight Watchers to get to about 260, then back to 290, then a Gastric Bypass to get to 215, then back to 230, then Medifast to get to 175.  I’ll have a major reconstructive surgery on June 13th, 2012.  I’ll be just shy of age 41.
  • The Family:  I’m the oldest of 3 girls in a close-knit, functional, what-used-to-be-traditional family.  Two parents who fell in love in high school and have had a strong marriage for 45 years.  Dogs and cats, home-built tree-houses, curfews, chores, enough money to get by with good management, all did well in school, all went to college.
  • The Romantic:  High school – not much – the funny girl with a good voice.  College – not much – a handful of hurtful rejections – but the smart, successful girl with a great voice.  Grad school – nothin’ – but career bent with great friends!.  10 years of more nothing until I tackled the weight and put myself out there.  Met my husband, Nelson at age 31, we married when I was 34.  We’ve been together for almost 10 years and you’ll hear much more about that.
  • The Career:  Bachelor and Master degrees in Vocal/Opera Performance and Theater.  Went full time music and theater in 2003.  I have a small, non-profit theater company – Plunge! Cabaret.  I direct two choruses – the Vienna Choral Society and the UU Church of Rockville.  I have a couple of private voice studios.  Nelson and I have a board and card game design company – Cheese Weasel Logistics.

Everything else you’ll learn along the way!  Welcome to my life!
